My Interview with Author Lynn Carmer

When did you first realize you wanted to become a Writer/author?

I think I’ve always wanted to write romance. It all started in middle school after I found my first Sweet Dreams teen romance novel. I would dream up stories in my mind, which for some reason always involved a beautiful boy, who was temporarily blinded. We would be stranded somewhere and only I could tend to him. And of course, it would include him touching my face to “see” the real me. (Ugh!) Hopefully, my stories are a little more refined since then.

Where do you get your ideas for your book?

I have a small problem. I’m sort-of, kind-of, completely obsessed with reality TV. There are so many over the top, pop cultural references that I love to pepper into my Contemporary Romance. One line can spark an idea for an entire book.

What kind of things do you enjoy when not writing?

I love to read, but sadly I can’t read as much while I’m writing. I try to change up the genre, so if I’m writing Contemporary, I’ll read Paranormal Romance. I also love to watch television, as referenced above, but I don’t think I’m supposed to admit that out loud. I especially love to spend time with my family. (Watching TV--ssh!)

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

I have published eight books, and seven of them are currently available for purchase, pretty much everywhere. Why isn’t the eighth book available for purchase, you ask? Well, because it was awful, so no, I will never divulge the title. As for my favorite—gasp!—they’re my babies, I could never play favorites.

Do you have any suggestions to help others who have a passion for writing?

Go for it! Try. There are a million different ways to publish nowadays, why not give it a shot?

What do you think makes a great story?

Conflict, conflict, conflict. Torture your characters. Oh, and super-hot heroes and heroines.

Which Writer/Authors inspire you?

So, so many. In romance my absolute favorites are Nalini Singh, Kresley Cole, Christine Feehan, J.R. Ward, and  Ilyana Knight. Those talented ladies are my one-clicks!

What are you working on at the moment?

I am working on the fourth book in my Charm School Series. Four sisters suddenly inherit a failing charm school. Pretty quickly they realize that the school makes its real money, not from classes on etiquette and manners, but from naughty, after -hour classes. Each sister has to find her own guinea pig to help teach the class. Luckily for the reader, these guinea pigs are usually rough-edged fire-fighters or MMA fighters  The series is red-hot and hilarious.

What genre are your books?

Currently I am focusing on Contemporary Romance, but I have also written two books under Paranormal Romance.

What drew you to the genre you write?

I love the 80’s music and movies. I love romance. I love that first moment when a couple meets and the spark that follows. I love dissecting why people make the crazy choices they do and bringing them to life on the page. And I especially love writing those last words: The End.

Which Actor/Actress would you like to see portraying the lead character from your most recent book?

For the first book in my Charm School Series my heroine is known for her sassy attitude and amazing ass. So, maybe…Jennifer Lopez, lol!

Do you write full-time or part-time?

Full-time.

What is the hardest thing about writing?

Writing! No joke, sometimes it’s painful staring down at that blank page.

Any tips on how to get through the dreaded Writer’s block?

It sounds boring, but you just have to write through it. If the story isn’t working, then write about your characters, or the scenery. Eventually a spark will lead to a flame.

Do you read much, and if so who are your favorite Authors or genres?

I always read in a genre I’m not currently writing in. Reference question seven for my favorite authors.

Is there anything else you would like to add that I haven’t included?

I would just like to say thanks for the interest and the questions. I appreciate it

How can Readers discovery more about you and your work?

My Interview with Author Ravyn Wilde

  1. When did you first realize you wanted to become a Writer/author?
The only time I wrote as a child and a teenager, that didn’t have to do with school, was poetry. All throughout my teenage years and early 20s I wrote poetry and even had some published, but didn’t think of it as more than a hobby. Then, in my late 30s I attended a work function where you were given ten minutes with a palm reader. She told me that eventually I would become an author, that it was what I was meant to be. I thought that sounded wonderful, but had no idea where the time or ideas would come from.
Flash forward a few years, and I was laid off from my job. I had a decent severance package and was trying to decide what I wanted to do. I read a lot during these months and one night was reading a romance that was so horrible I complained to my husband that, “I could write better than this crap.” He told me to do it and stop bitchin.
Hah. I started looking online at some of the requirements in 2001 for submitting a book. I was reading a lot of Ellora’s Caves books, and clicked on their submission guidelines. Wrote three chapter of a book (Zylan Captive) and emailed it in. No one was more surprised than my husband when they emailed me within a day or two asking for the rest of the book.
I didn’t have more than the three chapters. I asked for a couple weeks to “finish” it, and did nothing but write.
When I wrote the three chapters for EC…that was flowers and fireworks and an, “Oh my God…I love doing this!” moment. That is when I realized I wanted to be a writer.

  1. Where do you get your ideas for your book?

Ideas have never been a problem. I sit and stare out the window where I write and come up with a couple every time, I watch the news and get ideas, read magazine articles…listen to people at the next table in the restaurant, walk my dog in the neighborhood. Sometimes the germ for an idea is just two or three words that resonate, and sometimes it comes to you as an entire scene or plot. I keep an idea notebook with me at all times.

Sometimes ideas come from my habit of playing a silly “what if” game with myself when I discover something I think should be changed. Several years ago I was reading a biography on Marie Antoinette. That woman had a horrible life where EVERYONE told her what to do. And she wasn’t anything like what history has turned her into. As I read, I kept wishing she had a chance to just rebel a little, and thought she needed an opportunity to kick some ass and do what SHE wanted to do.

So…what if…I gave her a chance. What if…Marie Antoinette was a vampire and lived through her beheading. Then she could do what whatever she wanted to, have a life she wanted versus one forced on her as a child. The result was Let Them Eat Cake.

When my first grandson was born, I went to San Francisco for 6 weeks to help take care of him while my son finished school and daughter-in-law worked. I pushed his stroller down the street looking at all the fun houses and buildings. Intrigued by all the gargoyles and Sphinx statues, I wrote out the ideas for several stories while I was there.

I have 15 partially written books that have between 200 to 25,000 words each. Five of those books came from the 6 weeks I spent in San Francisco. I plan to publish several of those stories this year. Ideas have never been a problem, finishing the entire story before another idea crops up? That’s a problem. But I’m getting better at it!

  1. What kind of things do you enjoy when not writing?

Time with my grandchildren and family tops that list. Being silly with them, watching movies, having sleepovers. Especially during the summer when we do Sunday afternoon BBQs and are outside.

I love to read. I schedule writing breaks around reading time. I love to travel. Road trips to nowhere, weeks in Hawaii, train trips from one point to another…any kind of travel. When I’m home, one of my favorite things to do is lay in my hammock and read, write, or just stare up at the leaves and think…what if? ðŸ˜‰

I go shooting with my husband once a month. Target practise with several different guns. Ruger, rifles, and something he used for protection from the bears when he was in Alaska…it’s a BIG pistol.

Last year we remodeled the main floor in our house—kitchen, living room and family room. I loved that! And when I say we remodeled it…we took apart the kitchen, tore up the carpet and flooring, painted, put the cabinets together and installed them, finished butcher block countertops, cut them to size and installed…tore down the old fireplace rock and put up a “used” traditional mantel that I refinished. My husband is an electrician, so we did all new can-lighting and fixtures. The only thing we didn’t do was the plumbing, and changing the fireplace from wood to gas. I loved it! But my husband hated every minute of it. So, smaller…me only projects are in my future!

  1. How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

I currently have 11 published titles available. Some of these titles have multiple stories in them, and I have a couple of free books available for promo purposes. I also have two previously published books that will be re-released in April and May, after I’ve finished edits and cover design. So I guess my answer to that question is 16. LOL. Sixteen completed books and 15 partially written manuscripts with two of those brand-new books close to completion.

My all time favorite—up to last month, was Let Them Eat Cake. I love that book. It has lots of laughter, a little horror, a bunch of crazy characters, and I just like it. Since Supernatural Speed Dating was finished and published last month, it has edged into my favorite spot for the same reason. It is funny, a little scary…and has a bunch of crazy people in it.

As I think about those two books, I realize they have another thing in common—the amount of research I did before writing them. I put a lot of the real Marie Antoinette in Let Them Eat Cake, and did research on mythological villains for it. In Supernatural Speed Dating I did a ton of research on muti (doctors, killings, history). So I feel like I really put more than just my imagination into both books.

  1. Do you have any suggestions to help others who have a passion for writing?

It gets said a great deal…but—just do it. Just write, just read, just join things like Romance Writers of America, or whatever writing group fits your genre and area. Read writers blogs that talk about writing, promo, self-publishing and anything to do with your craft.

I spend part of each week reading books about promo, or blogs about plotting, or learning new skills with Canva (cover and promo graphics design) or how to do something on my website. Being a writer is about the story…you have to have that first, so put it on paper…but open yourself to all the information available and learn a little each day about the business of writing.

  1. What do you think makes a great story?

That is hard to answer. I like to laugh when I read, but I also like a little anger or spine-tingling terror. So I guess emotion makes a good story. I want to be emotional when I read a book. I want to laugh out loud so my husband looks at me funny and says what are you laughing at, I want my daughter to walk in the room and ask me why I’m crying. I want to get the book at midnight the day it comes out, and HAVE to stay up all night to finish it because I can’t put it down. That happens when I fall in love with the characters, when I hurt for them, or am afraid for them. So I guess what makes a good story for me…is emotion.

  1. Which Writer/Authors inspire you?

I have 5 authors that I read and reread all the time. I love their stories, they make me emotional, and I feel as if I know the characters inside and out. I want to be these writers when I “growup.”

J.D. Robb – (And yes…I know this is Nora Roberts. I didn’t when I started reading about Eve and Roarke…but somewhere after the first 20 or so books it came out.) There are 60 ish books in this series, and every other year I read them from beginning to end.

Christine Feehan – I like all of her books, but the love affair started with the Carpathians. I love her paranormal style and character development.

Laurel K Hamilton – She makes me laugh, scares me to death, and I close my eyes for the really gory stuff.

Sherrilyn Kenyon – the entire host of paranormal creatures and stories just amazes me.

Angela Knight – an EC author that opened my eyes to the possibility of SciFi Fantasy stories.

  1. What are you working on at the moment?(optional)

I always have several projects going at the same time. If I’m feeling creative, I write. I write every day but sometimes it just comes easier than others. If I’m stuck on one project, I work on another. If the writing just isn’t flowing…I edit, or promo, or take care of other business. (Like designing a new website…)

I am working on edits for Selven Refuge and Zylan Rebellion. Flushing out Vlad & Veronicas’ story for the Creatures of Myth series, and finishing Midnight’s Mystery (Dragon Witch).

  1. What genre are your books?

Most are paranormal. Vampires, dragons, shape-shifters of all types, and lots of magic users (Druids, witches (light and dark), eventually gargoyles, more dragons, a Sphinx…

I also have SciFi romance books, and a couple contemporary stories.

  1. What drew you to the genre you write?

Its what I like to read. What I enjoy. When I read I want to escape. I want to be someone/something else and live in a different world.

  1. Which Actor/Actress would you like to see portraying the lead character from your most recent book? (any book you like)

This is very hard for me because I don’t watch a lot of TV or go to movies very often, unless they are Disney movies with the grands. If I have extra time, I read.

I did go see The Last Word with Shirly MacLaine and Amanda Seyfried this weekend. I laughed and cried, so it was a good movie in my opinion.

In my book - Hidden Enemies, the heroine escapes to a small town to hide from her abusive ex-husband. There is a geriatric group of women and men who bring her cookies, hang out at her book store, and are a hoot. Shirly MacLaine would be perfect for one of the women in this story.

And Amanda Seyfried is the perfect Tawny from Guardian Alien, the third book in Alien At Her Door. Very down to earth, take charge, take no prisoners kind of actress.

  1. Do you write full-time or part-time?

Again I’m smiling. Even when I had a job I wrote/prom’d ten plus hours a day. But as of March 1st of this year I write exclusively and full-time…which for me typically means twelve to fourteen hours a day.

  1. What is the hardest thing about writing?

For me it is the last few chapters of a book. Because I second guess myself, worry and reread, and by then I’ve lived with the book for months, sometimes years, and think no one could possibly enjoy it because it has become a monster…

  1. Any tips on how to get through the dreaded Writer’s block?

Change things up. If I have writers block I move from the desk to the couch, then to the hammock. Or I get off the computer and write by hand. If its really bad and I need to finish something…I take a bath. I write with paper and pen in the steam and essential oils and I have never come out of the tub without some sort of “answer” to what is next!

  1. Do you read much, and if so who are your favorite Authors or genres?

I read every day. My favorite genre is paranormal, or “writing craft” books. Right now, I’m rereading The Writer’s Little Helper by James V Smith, Jr…a chapter a day. I read Christine Feehan’s new book last Tuesday from Midnight to 6 am, and then a little bit over the next few days. My favorite authors are the ones that inspire me, but I read a lot of others. Lynsay Sands, Katie MacAlister, JR Ward, Karen Marie Moning, Cheyenne McCray…just to name a few.

  1. Is there anything else you would like to add that I haven’t included?

No, I think you’ve covered it!

My Interview with Author Jayelle Morgan

When did you first realize you wanted to become a Writer/author?

Like a lot of writers, I realized I wanted to write a long time ago. In high school to be exact, when I got perfect grades and glowing praise from my English and Creative Writing teachers. And then life interfered, as it often does, and things took a different track. Almost 20 years later is when I remembered I wanted to write!

Where do you get your ideas for your book?

It’s hard to say where they come from…the idea for my first series came from a weird connection between the first X-Men movie, my love of nature, and reading the BDB series by JR Ward. Stir well and let cook for years, and then I finally wrote the first scene.

The idea for my second series is a mish-mash between the Chronicles of Riddick and typical paranormal shifter romance.
So, long answer short, I guess book ideas come from making vague connections between two or more different things and then mixing in romance!

What kind of things do you enjoy when not writing?

I enjoy rockhounding, cuddling, and pastries. And sleep. Hah.

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

I’ve written… *counts on fingers* four books. Only one is published. I have about 10 more that are only a scene or two.

My favorite book is my next book. I’m always more excited about what I am working on next than what I’m working on at the moment. :p

Do you have any suggestions to help others who have a passion for writing?

Don’t wait! Writer’s write. Don’t wait to do research, don’t wait to learn everything first (spoiler: you will never learn everything you need to know), don’t wait until you’re in your 30’s. Write, right now.

What do you think makes a great story?

I think emotion makes a great story. You want to feel the highs and the lows, the pain and the joy. A story that stirs emotion in you is a great story.

Which Writer/Authors inspire you?

So many. I’m the world’s worst at remembering other author’s names, though. The. Worst. I remember books by what happened in them. I’ve read so many great, entertaining books and I remember like…3 of the names. But they’ve all inspired me.

What are you working on at the moment?(optional)

I am trying to finish up my Air Elemental book (second in series) and have started my Earth Elemental book. I heart my Warriors!

“Oh, do you fly?” she asked, wondering if that was part of his military skill-set.
Now he was the one covering a grin with his drink, but she caught the corner of it before he a took a sip, and there in the sparkle of his eyes.
“Only when I can manage it without other people seeing.”

What genre are your books?

They straddle a line between Paranormal Romance and Contemporary Fantasy Romance (but there really isn’t a category for that last one.) My next project will straddle PNR and Sci-fi Romance…so I guess the common denominator is PNR!

What drew you to the genre you write?

I love the idea of hidden beings, hidden magic, hidden worlds within our own. Things that are just on the edge of possibility. I am naturally drawn to Paranormal Romance because of that.
Which Actor/Actress would you like to see portraying the lead character from your most recent book?(any book you like)

Oh, boy! Um, Alyssa Milano to play my independent graphic designer Brooke in BURN. Christina Hendricks to play my delicate-on-the-outside-strong-on-the-inside Emory in RISE. Yeah. But the more fun part is dreaming about who would play the heroes! Yum.

Do you write full-time or part-time?

Part-time. It’s just one of my many part-time jobs that make up more than full-time hours.

What is the hardest thing about writing?

The hardest thing about writing is making that story that is SO kickass in your head just as kickass on paper. It’s brutal sometimes.

Any tips on how to get through the dreaded Writer’s block?

Oy. I have tried everything. So, my #1 tip would be…try many different things until something helps to get you unstuck. But don’t wait to get unstuck, work towards it.

Do you read much, and if so who are your favorite Authors or genres?

I don’t read much anymore (writing takes up that time now), but I still try to read one book a month. My favorite genre is romance, of any kind, but I also enjoy Urban Fantasy and YA. I USED to read 2 books a week.

Is there anything else you would like to add that I haven’t included?

I’m an introvert, my favorite color is purple, my favorite dessert is pie, and my husband is my hero.

How can Readers discover more about you and your work?(please provide proper links)

My Interview with Author R.A. Pollard

When did you first realize you wanted to become a Writer/author?

I have always enjoyed roleplay -table top like vampire masquerade- Then I got into RP in online chat rooms and moved to RP on boards and finally FB. But on and off I have written books in between.

Where do you get your ideas for your book?

The original idea for concept of the Seven Deadly Sins came from an Anime series called Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, there was a character called Greed who I loved but I didn’t think he really got a chance to grow. I felt the need to take him and reimagine him and from that came the idea for the 7 books, one for each Sin.

What kind of things do you enjoy when not writing?

Not a lot to be honest, I work in the oil field so when I am not writing I tend to be working

My Interview with Author Anna Lowe

When did you first realize you wanted to become a Writer/author?

I started in Grade 1 when I wrote little stories starring my classmates, one by one! As an adult, I gradually made the shift from writing non-fiction travel guides to fiction. That might explain why my stories all have such a strong sense of place, from moonlit Pacific waters surrounding Maui to the harsh beauty of the Arizona desert.

Where do you get your ideas for your book?

Funny you should ask! I just made a video on this very subject! You can find it on my YouTube channel. Here’s the link: https://youtu.be/8FmXvqHJG8s.
In short, some stories draw heavily from real-life inspiration, often a tall-tale version of something that happened to me or someone I know or have heard about. Other times, I have to work really hard to puzzle a plot out. The characters usually come easily to me but it often takes longer to work out a plot. Other times, an entire story grows out of a tiny side mention that  takes on a life of its own.

If you’re interested in hearing more, check out the “Bonus Materials” section of my website where I go into detail on the “making of” every book I write. (http://www.annalowebooks.com/bonus-material)

What kind of things do you enjoy when not writing?

I enjoy sports, travel, hiking, and ingesting any form of dark chocolate!

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

I have 7 books in my Twin Moon series (wolf shifters). 5 in my Blue Moon Series (wolf/bear shifters). 5 in my Serendipity Action-Adventure Romance series, 3 in my Shifters in Vegas series (dragons, wolves, and bears), and I’m currently working on Book 3 of 5 in my brand-new ALOHA SHIFTERS series (Magnum, PI with a shifter twist!).

Do you have any suggestions to help others who have a passion for writing?

Keep a notebook handy for ideas that strike you out of the blue and discipline yourself to write a certain amount each day. Successful writing is a combination of creative inspiration and knuckling down to hard work.

What do you think makes a great story?

Tension, tension, and more tension. In my new book, LURE OF THE DRAGON, the heroine is a human who is on the run from a marauding dragon shifter. She seeks shelter with a band of battle-hardened Special Forces vets. Before she knows it, she’s falling in love with one - but he’s a dragon, too, and she can’t quite bring herself to trust him - yet!
The second ingredient that makes a great story is a sit-back-and-sigh happy ending. I’m a sucker for happily-ever-after, and each of my stories ends on an emotional high.

Which Writer/Authors inspire you?

There are lots, but I was particularly inspired by Wayne Stinnet, who writes sea adventure stories. He used to be a truck driver and he made himself write 500 words a day - or night, even when he was hunkered down at a truck stop for the night! Eventually, he wrote enough books and found enough success that he was able to become a full-time writer! I love that story - from humble roots to still-humble but very accomplished writer.

What are you working on at the moment?(optional)

I’m currently working on a whole new series of suspenseful paranormal romances: ALOHA SHIFTERS - JEWELS OF THE HEART, that kicks off with Book 1, “Lure of the Dragon.” Think of Magnum, P.I. with a shifter twist! In a nutshell... What do dragon, wolf, bear, and tiger shifters do after a decade of honorable service in an elite Special Forces unit? Transitioning back to civilian life isn't as easy as it sounds - not even in sunny Hawaii, where they land a sweet gig as caretakers of a luxurious seaside estate. But fate still has a host of challenges in store for this band of brothers, including the temptation of lasting love, the constant threat of enemy shifters, and the mysterious powers of a long-lost horde of jewels.

What genre are your books?

Mostly paranormal (shifter) romance but also the really fun Serendipity Action-Adventure romance series that’s written in the spirit of “Romancing the Stone.”

What drew you to the genre you write?

I picked up a wolf shifter book at random and was instantly drawn to the fantasy element and powerful alpha hero.

Which Actor/Actress would you like to see portraying the lead character from your most recent book?(any book you like)

Chris Hemsworth could play Boone (the wolf shifter of the Aloha Shifters series) any time he’s ready!

Do you write full-time or part-time?
It feels like full time and I make a solid income but I do have another job with great benefits so I feel I have the best of both worlds.

What is the hardest thing about writing?
Never really being sure if a story or character will go over well - although when a book releases, it’s usually to rave reviews which is a great feeling.

Any tips on how to get through the dreaded Writer’s block?

Keep writing, even if it means skipping ahead to a different scene. That often helps.

My Interview with Author JJ Harper

When did you first realize you wanted to become a Writer/author?

It was more something that just happened, I’d had to finish work due to ill health and knew I wouldn’t be going back. My husband suggested writing something after seeing how much money I was spending on Amazon (lol). I had the beginnings of a story going around in my head and just started writing freehand until it kept growing and I needed to take it more seriously. It took me about eight months and I had no plans to publish. But again, my husband intervened and mentioned Amazon KDP and we gave it a go. I can’t believe it took me so long to find something I love so much.

Where do you get your ideas for your book?

This is tricky, my Finding Me series grew as each one is about a different friend, so the characters were all ready there, but the stories just grow. I’m not a planner or plotter I just wing it and write what ever comes into my head. Some of it all gets trashed or saved for different story lines.
Music plays a big part and a lyric or song title can set a whole new story off in my head, which is annoying in the middle of the night when the song won’t go away and the story grows.

What kind of things do you enjoy when not writing?

I still love reading and spend evenings and night times catching up on my ever growing list of new books, I like meeting with friends for lunches and/or drinks. I’ve a granddaughter that likes to keep me on my toes too. I’m not one for the TV, but love Formula One and will watch that. Oh, and wine, I’m a great lover of wine!

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

I’ve got nine published and on Amazon at the moment and another with my editor. I’m halfway through writing another and a third of the way through another. Oh my God! I can’t choose a favourite. Okay, I think from the Finding Me series it’s book 2 My Turn even though the main character annoys me sometimes she’s got a lot of balls and I like that in a woman. But Troy has to be my favourite man. He appeared as a cameo in the Reunion trilogy and he had to have his story told. It’s a heartbreaker but so good in the end.

Do you have any suggestions to help others who have a passion for writing?

Just do it, write whatever comes into your head. As love as you love your characters and have faith in them then someone else will too. Keep talking to other authors in your genre and ask questions. Writing isn’t a competition, it’s a journey that will bring so many rewards, so don’t give up.

What do you think makes a great story?

For me, it the likability of the characters, I have to feel for them. Even the bad guys deserve to have a reaction, so to me if they don’t grab me from the start I lose interest quickly. I love passion and fire, not just sex but determination and fight. I want to cheer them on when they are winning and cry when they hurt. I want to miss them when I finish the book. That’s what makes a good story for me.

Which Writer/Authors inspire you?

I have so many authors I admire rather than be inspired by, I love reading Aimee Nicole Walker, Sloane Kennedy and Riley Hart. I adore N.r Walker’s books and Kora Knight, she rights with an intensity I can only dream of having. But I have taken some of, her advice lately so who knows maybe it rub off on me! So, I think maybe she inspires me! God, don’t tell her that she’ll laugh her head off!

What are you working on at the moment?(optional)

I’m writing a M/M/M book now, it’s about a man who finds himself going to his hometown after living away for twelve years, he goes home to mend his broken heart after his long term boyfriend declares he’s getting married. Here he finds more than he could ever dream of but in the shape of two men rather than one.

What genre are your books?

I originally started with M/F contemporary romance but now write M/M romance, my stories have a lot of hot sex so can be borderline erotica, but my heart is always on a love story and a happy ever after. I just choose not to make it an easy ride for them to get there.

What drew you to the genre you write?

I discovered M/M  and found it so much more, I love that you can have two alpha men, but still have the heat and love too. Exploring the minds of men is so much more fun!

Which Actor/Actress would you like to see portraying the lead character from your most recent book?(any book you like)

God, this is difficult, um. I’d better go and research some hot actors! Right! I’ve had a look through Google and I’m going for both Troy books so for Book 1 Into the light I’m going with Douglas Booth as Troy but he needs to go very blond, but so cute and Theo James for Franco and for Book 2 Troy Out of the Dark I’ll have Alex Pettyfer for the older Troy and Jack Raynor for Raff but with scruffy red hair dragged back in a leather tie. Oh the images in my head now!!!

Do you write full-time or part-time?

I write full time in as much as I write everyday, and no longer go out to work but I also spend time (probably too much) on social media. Facebook is such an amazing place for indie authors, I’m addicted to Pinterest too. Plus Twitter and Instagram when I remember.

What is the hardest thing about writing?

Letting go of the characters, which is why I think all of my books are intertwined, many of the Finding Me characters appear in the M/M series as additional characters. Handing it over to the editor and beta readers is tough, it’s like handing over your baby.

Any tips on how to get through the dreaded Writer’s block?

I leave it alone, just walk away and let it all settle, it why I have so many other books in different stages. I start writing a new one when I can’t think past the road block in my head. It always clears and I’m like Duh! Why didn’t I think of that before. So, stop thinking about it and wait for it to come back again.

Do you read much, and if so who are your favorite Authors or genres?

I read as much as I can, I don’t sleep much so find the hours between 2 and 5am good times to catch up. I read mainly M/M but still have my go-to fav authors, Tillie Cole always gets a one click from me. Lane Hayes has become a favourite lately as has Devon McCormack and Felice Stevens. I like to try new authors too, and this is where Fb comes in to play again so successfully.

Is there anything else you would like to add that I haven’t included?

I can’t think of any now, but as soon I send it back I probably will. My brain is always dragging behind.

My Review: The Viscount and the Artist by Alyson Pearce

Description

Andrew Cardwell is a man driven by duty to his country and to his family. After the death of his uncle, he's determined to provide security and stability for his family as the new Viscount Cardwell—even if that means marrying and producing an heir. Surprising himself, Andrew decides to sponsor a young artist named Jeremy for the season, to help him find a patron. What he doesn’t anticipate is how well Jeremy fits in his bed…and his life.

Jeremy Leighton knows what it’s like to be a disappointment. The only son of a vicar, he's refused to follow the path his father set for him, choosing his passion for art, instead. He accepts Andrew's proposal, hoping to prove to his father—and himself—that he can succeed as an artist. After spending time with Andrew in and out of bed, Jeremy struggles not to fall for the damaged viscount, knowing the season will likely end in Andrew's engagement.

Between a meddling cousin, a widow on the hunt for a new husband, and their own doubts about the relationship, how can Andrew and Jeremy shed the expectations of others to find true happiness?

My Review: A Demon And His Witch

Description

Burning alive is nothing compared to the heat of his touch.

There are better ways to break up with a girl than having her roasted at the stake as a witch. Is it any wonder Ysabel has trust issues? She got her revenge, though, and it only cost her a slightly tarnished soul.

Working for Lucifer isn't all bad, until her ex-boyfriend escapes the bowels of Hell and she's forced to team up with a womanizing demon to fetch the jerk back.

As a minion in Lucifer's legion, Remy's seen a lot of things, but nothing can prepare him for the witch with the acerbic tongue - and voluptuous figure. The more she pushes him away, the more determined he becomes to seduce her. However, what's a poor demon to do when he accidentally falls in love and wants to keep her forever?

Welcome to Hell where you're screwed if you do and damned if don't. And just so you know, Lucifer has a special spot reserved for you...

My Interview with Author Natasha Knight

When did you first realize you wanted to become a Writer/author?

Well, I was always a reader and the idea of being a writer was one of those ‘How cool would that be’ sort of WAAAAY out there non-realities for a lot of my life. It only became a reality for me about four years ago – a reality as in I could actually write and earn money doing it.

Where do you get your ideas for your books?

Everywhere. It can be one word someone says, or meeting a friend of a friend, and that meeting having no significance at the time. But then something they said comes back to me and sparks a thought that leads maybe to one line or maybe to a whole story. It can be a quote I fall in love with, or just something sexy I want to write about because it is pure fantasy and not reality.

What kind of things do you enjoy when not writing?

Yoga, cooking, baking and hanging out with my family.

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

I just had to do a quick count. 24 it looks like! Favorite? That’s like choosing my favorite child. I love the work I’ve done as an Indie, which is darker than what I used to write, but I also needed to write those earlier works to get to where I am now.

Do you have any suggestions to help others who have a passion for writing?

Yes. Write. Sit down and write. You can read about it, study it, think up all sorts of ideas of what you WANT to be become, but ultimately, it comes down to doing the work so sit down and write and let it come as it comes.

What do you think makes a great story?

Passion. I don’t mean erotic passion (although that’s nice), I mean taking an idea or a quote or something you’re passionate about, something that really makes you think and feel, and developing it and giving it to characters you create and seeing what happens.

Which Writer/Authors inspire you?

There are many so I’ll just tell you the one who really inspired me enough to actually start writing. I LOVE the Twilight series. I really started writing after reading those and finding Edward’s half written story. It made me sad and I decided I’d finish it myself because I wanted it. I never did finish it because I started to write about all these other ideas I realized I could explore.

What are you working on at the moment?

I’m working on Damon and Lina’s story – the follow up to Dishonorable.

What genre are your books?

Dark romantic suspense.

What drew you to the genre you write?

I am not sure, actually. I just like it. Maybe it’s the heroes I get to explore because it’s always them I see first before I start writing.

Do you write full-time or part-time?

I was about to guess, but then I did some math and technically, I write part time. I pretty  much use the hours I have when my kids are at school. Weekends are reserved for family and evenings I like to have a drink and kick back!

What is the hardest thing about writing?

For me, I am not a plotter and sometimes wish I were. I worry that I will write myself into a corner and will have to discard a story I love.

Any tips on how to get through the dreaded Writer’s block?

I don’t know, actually. I know when I’m feeling stuck, I have to walk away from my computer and get outside. Exercise. Go for a walk, or somewhere new and explore. Just get away from your computer for a bit and be okay about it. I think obsessing about being stuck only gets you more stuck.

Do you read much, and if so who are your favorite Authors or genres?

Yes, all the time. I do a lot of audio too. I don’t read much romance anymore, oddly. I just finished The Handmaid’s Tale and am re-reading The Master and Margarita. I just finished Where’d You Go, Bernadette which I LOVED. Caroline Kepnes (wrote You and Hidden Bodies) is a one click for me. Too many to name!
