My Interview with Author Kay Phoenix

When did you first realize you wanted to become a Writer/author?

Probably in the womb.

Where do you get your ideas for your book?

Truth is stranger than fiction.  Everything I’ve written is based on truth.

What kind of things do you enjoy when not writing?

As a creative person, I enjoy being outdoors, hiking, road-trips, and going on adventures.

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

I’ve self published four (“The Plane Truth”, “Under the Granite Lies”, “Chartreuse”, and “An Unexpected Knight”) and traditionally published one (“Steele and Stone” from The Wild Rose Press).  BUT, my favorite book is an untitled one that I’m currently working on which is a paranormal romantic comedy.

Do you have any suggestions to help others who have a passion for writing?

It’s HARD WORK!  Don’t give up.

What do you think makes a great story?

The characters.

Which Writer/Authors inspire you?

Sylvia Day inspires me because she seems so calm and organized, yet is so busy.  Also, Diana Gabaldon because her work ethic is phenomenal and her epic series is amazing.

What are you working on at the moment?(optional)

I’m currently working on two new novellas for anthologies with my Sin City Romance Writers sisters, as well as Book 2 of my Daring Hearts series with The Wild Rose Press and the above mentioned untitled paranormal romantic comedy.

What genre are your books?

I’ve written several paranormals, a couple contemporaries and a book of poetry. One thing that ties them all together is my sense of humor.

What drew you to the genre you write?

See above…I’m all over the place.  I’m a creative person and I like to try new adventures.

Which Actor/Actress would you like to see portraying the lead character from your most recent book?(any book you like)

For “Steele and Stone”, I’d like to see Elle portrayed by actress Heather Graham.

Do you write full-time or part-time?

Part-time

What is the hardest thing about writing?

Writing “the end.”  As a Virgo, I want to pick at it.

Any tips on how to get through the dreaded Writer’s block?

Go for a hike.  I’ve plotted several of my novels while hiking.

Do you read much, and if so who are your favorite Authors or genres?

My favorite genre to read is True Adventure.

Is there anything else you would like to add that I haven’t included?

I love chocolate milkshakes from Dairy Queen!

How can Readers discover more about you and your work?(please provide proper links)
