My Interview with Author Andrea R. Cooper

When did you first realize you wanted to become a Writer/author?

I’ve always been a storyteller, making up characters and adventures since I was a kid. However, once I grew-up, the stories didn’t stop and I wanted a way to share them with others.

Where do you get your ideas for your book?

From everywhere. Most often when I’m writing a story, a character or new story idea will pop up.

What kind of things do you enjoy when not writing?

I enjoy hanging out with my family. Zumba, martial arts, and reading.

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

I’ve written fifteen books. My favorite is always the one I’m currently writing or newly released. Which in this case, is Fallen – Book 2 of the Claimed series. It’s a paranormal romance that follows the hero and heroine from the east coast to Greece to New Orleans.

Do you have any suggestions to help others who have a passion for writing?

Read. Write. Repeat. Get beta readers and critique partners. Never give-up.

What do you think makes a great story?

The characters. Bringing them to life and showing their struggles and what they overcame to find love.

Which Writer/Authors inspire you?

Anne Bishop, Kim Harrison, Terry Goodkind, TF Walsh, and many others.

What are you working on at the moment?

I’m doing final edits on Tainted – Book 3 of the Claimed series before sending to the publisher. As well as writing Ancient Bloodlines – Book 2.5 in my YA Fantasy series Shadow Bloodlines.

What genre are your books?

Primarily, I write paranormal and historical romance. I also have a Young Adult Fantasy/Paranormal Romance series under A.R. Cooper.

What drew you to the genre you write?

I love fantasy and paranormal stories. My parents refused to let me read or watch anything with magic (including Disney!). So of course, that only made me want the forbidden more.
For a long time, I was only a reader, but I love the genre so much I started writing in it as well.

Which Actor/Actress would you like to see portraying the lead character from your most recent book?

My dream cast for my hero and heroine in Fallen would be:
Adriana Lima – Adeline
Thierry Pepin - Jack

Do you write full-time or part-time?

I write part-time. Whenever I get a chance once the hubby and kids are taken care of. At least this way, I don’t have to worry about writer’s block, because I’ve craved writing all day. Once I finally get a few minutes of quiet time, the words flow out.

What is the hardest thing about writing?

Finding time to write.

Any tips on how to get through the dreaded Writer’s block?

I find doing something I absolutely hate will free me up. Like scrubbing the floors, etc. Or switching to a new project. That is why sometimes I write two to three stories at the same time.

Do you read much, and if so who are your favorite Authors or genres?

Yes, I read whenever I can. I love fantasy and paranormal romance. My favorite is listening to an audio book while I clean or drive.

Is there anything else you would like to add that I haven’t included?

Yes, I love watching book trailers. Sometimes, I’ve purchased a book that I normally would’ve passed on.
Here’s my book trailers for both Claimed – Book 1 and my YA Fantasy Shadow Bloodlines – Book 1
